White ppl in America saw (mixed race) ppl as being part of black ppl. So thats why he (Obama) sees himself as being black. So I dont think it's a 'saleability' thing at all...same applies to Beyonce.

I agree that 'perception' is socially and politically significant, and that perception of Obamas 'blackness' is part of his 'saleability'. (as in the marketability of someone like Beyonce also). Having said that, a 'half breed' animal is a completely different animal.
