MMR did used to contain a tiny bit of thimerosal, I believe. That being said, there was never any good reason to think it was dangerous. Fearmongering, then as now.

Who would you like to injure if your child suffered permanent brain damage from measles, or was cripled by polio, or died from another vaccine-preventable illness? The people responsible would be much, much easier to identify. Not nearly as ambiguous as "Big Pharma".

Millions of children are vaccinated at the age when autism is usually first observed and diagnosed. What would you expect to see IF vaccines did NOT cause autism? Some children would develop symptoms within a few weeks, days, or even hours of being vaccinated, PURELY BY CHANCE. Do you agree? This is just math. I sympathise somewhat with McCarthy's motivations, but this is really frustrating for public health people (like me). There is the potential for real harm here.

I wish I could give u 1000 thumbs up. I too have been affected by autism - as an infant, my cousin (Alex) was developing just fine and once he began the rounds of required vaccines, he slipped further and further back. So u can guess the rest - he was recently diagnosed on the autism spectrum - I'd love to lobatomize the sorry fucks that are responsible for all of the shit he and his caregivers will endure...and to think it could have been prevented....Piss on big pharma.

You embarrass only yourself belittling Jenny McCarthy and her search for knowledge. She's one of many parents who've watched their children suffer after vaccinations. You blindly believe that pharmaceutical companies/their lobbiests have only Americans' health in mind and don't consider profit when it comes to vaccine safety/effectiveness. Miss McCarthy should not reproduce?!Compared to you?! She's done a great deal of research and experienced vaccine reactions and autism first-hand. Have you?

topformfitness, you commented on thimerosal and aluminum in vaccines. One of the big ones that Ms. McCarthy blaims is the MMR. The MMR vaccine has been around since 1971 and has never contained either aluminum or thimerosal(which has been removed from all pediatric vaccine). Measles is not "mild", out of 1000 cases 1 will die, and a few will be permanently disabled. What nutrition prevents it?
