Nothing spoils a joke worse than having to explain it. It's the alliteration, son. The paired sounds of "unk-unk" in "trunk monkey" just sound funny. "Trunk chimp" doesn't. For things like this, funny trumps boring pedanticism every time.

That is a chimp, not a monkey. Monkeys have tails; chimps do not. How can you put so much time into these sketches and not know what kind of primate you are working with? Either the filmmakers are idiots, or they assume we are idiots. Jane Goodall could kick your ass.
