Yes, there was a sameness in many of their records, but somewhat more variety in the later ones.

They were great indeed. Sometimes I have the imopression their arrangements were rather similar, but the overall level was always excellent and smooth. As for their best recordings, I agree those were really outstanding.

Always good, this band was developing into a more asdvanced style when Coon died. Some of the last recordings are really impressive.
