RE: 1969 Moonlanding video: Why does 0:29 to 0:37 show flagman's backpack Blindingly Bright while directly behind him, and in line with the backpack, flag & flagman's bright reflection the ground is still dark shaded? All indicates a brightly spotlighted flag, man and backpack, lit from the front by angling upward on a slant,thus keeping the background shadowy while the main featured subjects are bright! Not the way a sun would shine at all; rather more like 2 to 3 sources of light!

"Why insulate when all wiring" Mylar is thermal insulation, not electrical insulation. "especially where it easily shreds and rips off" It does not easily shred or rip off because the LM is only used in space. It comes off when they fire a rocket at it -- they don't need it at that point. "Ever heard of insulating and reflective paints" Even if they were around in the sixties, they are nowhere close to Mylar's reflectivity -- they're used for houses, not space ships.

I don't know exactly what you think it should look like, but you can go buy a space blanket for five bucks at any camping store and see for yourself. Very thin and very light, perfect qualities for a space insulator.

Uh... compare this footage with what, exactly? There is no Apollo 11 ascent footage publicly available at all, to my knowledge. Armstrong and Aldrin have mentioned that the flag was blown over by the blast, so clearly there was a blast. "Does anybody know exactly what is all that garbage, paper and foil they littered the moonstage with?" The ascent stage lifts off from the descent stage -- that's the foil and insulation from the descent stage getting shredded.

Gromit you are so dead on . The picture that you're illustrating wasn't as clear in 1969 therefore it was easy to pull it off. With the passage of time comes the mantle of truth. When you see the results of the political consequences from that era you can easily see the need for such a staging.
