McCain said a couple of days the bottom fell out of the financial markets that the US economy is strong, so then it must be true! Kidding. You may be right that there's gonna take a couple of years dragging through the desert, but I also don't think this will take 40 years. It's aggravated by the fact that the financial crisis comes on top of an already quite ingrained industrial crisis with Asia taking over. Still: the dollar is a privileged currency and by letting it fall the US will be saved.
