Nah... that's got nothing to do with it. There's no need to use stooges. He's just using the average persons natural tendency to comply... the reason he asks all his volunteers to do a number of things before trying each experiment is that it makes them feel relaxed about complying. He says "Wait for as long as you like". How many times to they wait more than about two seconds? Obviously if you wait a long time you make the 'coincidence' less likely. He just got them working for him in advance.

ok at 11:13 you can see Keith's (the magician)left foot move a bit, I think he was tapping the guy next to him to tell him lower your hand. not good man ... not good
