Well, that was maybe just lyrics, the meaning of lyrics is like feelings, not reality! Chuck D really don't hate elvis, believe it. He said on Elvis :- "My whole thing was the one-sidedness — like, Elvis' icon status in America made it like nobody else counted. ... My heroes came from someone else. My heroes came before him. My heroes were probably his heroes. As far as Elvis being 'The King,' I couldn't buy that."

Sure, it was from "Fight the Power" and it goes a little something like this, "Elvis was a hero to most But he never meant shit to me you see Straight up racist that sucker was Simple and plain Mother fuck him and John Wayne."

Elvis wasn't a racist.. He had called that he didn't invented rock n roll, it was all from Fats dominos(black artist). In 1969, he said fats dominos a real king of rock n roll behind reporters. He called little richard a "greatest" in 1969.. He wasn't a racist.

The Elvis line in Fight The Power was something strong and definitely got people's attention in a song that needed to get people's attention. It was in great contrast to what people were used to hearing in American culture and that in itself was powerful. Though I'm not sure that Elvis as a person was actually a racist, or if it was more a case of the entertainment industry at the time being willing to give him opportunites that they wouldn't give to black artists.

Yes, Elvis emulated black musicians and bought his clothes on Beale Street in Memphis. I was surprised that Chuck D said he like Elvis since he called him a racist in one of PE's songs.

Elvis wasn't a racist man, the dude was the most respectful to blacks and black music. He acknowledged the influences. They racist claim is a myth that was concocted by a belief that Elvis made racist comments on a radio program, but it just wasn't true. He truly loved and respected black musicians
