Beatles & Stones were always close. That's the f***ing medias that forged a so-called opposition, AWA they forged "Summer of Love" which was a big hoax. Both groups looked up to each other, that's the real truth.

Oops, brain freeze on my part: Marriot died in 1991, not during the period the Stones considered him. According to Ron Wood in his new autobiography "Ronnie", Marriot was Keith Richards' first choice to replace Mick Taylor in 1975. However, Mick Jagger allegedly blocked the move after Marriott upstaged him during the audition.

Keith shows good taste when he mentions Steve Marriot / Small Faces / Humble Pie...Steve was actually supposed to be Mick Taylor's replacement but he died, & Ron Wood of course ended up in the band. Check out Steve Marriot's early stuff with the Small Faces on youtube, especially "Son of a Baker"...Steve is INTENSE!

Beatles, obvious, obviously. He barely mentions them here, only 10 or 12 seconds of his minute and a half answer--the majority of time was spent on bands he DIDN'T want on his list. Odd that he would call other bands 'thrown together' as an insult--it must have been used against him in more coherent times effectively. Same with the 'seams' comment. Stones are hardly raw/underproduced.

Keith said to start off with Hillbillycas, Elvis`s band,Scotty more and most amazing he did not say beatles were at the top of his list and yeah im sure he would feel bad to leave the poor beatles out cause they came first so he feels obligated cause i heard him say beatles open the door for the english so yeah he feels obligated.

Hey listen real close keith barely even mentioned the beatles ha ha!! I think someone had to poke him and remind him lol what does that tell you? I Think keith being the respectful man he is felt he should mention beatles but if the truth be known i bet he thinks they are overrated
